Report: Mavericks contacted Glen Davis, Clippers remain interested
The Los Angeles Clippers continue to show interest in center Glen Davis.
As reported by Brad Turner of the Los Angeles Times, Clippers head coach Doc Rivers met with Davis this week in an attempt to recruit the veteran big man. However, no deal has yet been reached.
The Clippers have shored up their frontcourt rotation by adding Josh Smith and Paul Pierce to an already loaded roster, but reuniting with Davis has proven difficult. Earlier reports indicated that the Clippers were optimistic that a deal could be reached.
Davis, however, is exploring his options, and is reportedly open to playing abroad. A potential offer to play overseas could entice the Clippers into increasing their offer.
The Dallas Mavericks, who have collected an expansive collection of centers this summer, have also reportedly contacted Davis.
Davis averaged four points and 2.3 rebounds in 12.2 minutes per game with the Clippers last season. He was primarily deployed for his defensive abilities and is a longtime favorite of Rivers, dating back to their time together with the Boston Celtics.
