Victor Wanyama has had his request to leave Southampton before the end of the summer transfer window rejected, manager Ronald Koeman told reporters.
The Kenyan was left out of Sunday's 3-0 win over Norwich City because Koeman did not deem him "mentally and physically good enough to play."
Wanyama joined Southampton from Celtic in 2013 and has become an important part of the team, making over 50 appearances for the club.
"If Victor shows the commitment to the team and he comes back, we would like to have him in the team, that is no problem," Koeman said.
Due to the international break, Southampton's next game isn't until Sept. 12. If the club manages to hold onto its prized asset, he will likely be in contention for the trip to West Brom.
