Saido Berahino returns to West Brom training after threatening to quit team
West Brom's wantaway striker, Saido Berahino, has reported back to the club he vowed to never play for again.
The Baggies had granted Berahino a week-long break from all activities after an unsettling finish to the transfer window. Tottenham tried and failed with four bids to sign the 22-year-old, but he didn't get his move. He subsequently threatened in a now deleted tweet to quit West Brom.
"Sad how I can't say exactly how the club has treated me but I can officially say I will never play (for club chairman) Jeremy Peace," wrote Berahino.
He did take part in a session Monday, and manager Tony Pulis confirmed that Berahino will play for the Midlands club once more, despite his issues with Peace.
"His gripe is with Jeremy - as far as I’m concerned, he will play for West Brom again,” Pulis told the Daily Mail.
Berahino must now do everything to regain the trust of fans and teammates - and show more respect to the team and staff that nurtured his career since he was 11 years old.
"He has to grow up and wise up to the fact that people at West Brom have supported him right from the beginning of his career," Pulis said.
The English international scored 14 Premier League goals last season. He hasn't been selected since the 0-0 draw against Watford on Aug. 15.
