Steelers received Patriots' radio broadcasts in headsets during season opener
Members of the Pittsburgh Steelers' coaching staff received the New England Patriots' radio broadcast in their headsets during the season opener Thursday night at Gillette Stadium.
NFL head of security Jeffrey Miller investigated the matter on the sidelines. While the Steelers' headsets were being infiltrated by the radio broadcast, the Patriots' headsets were turned off.
"It was with the coach-to-coach headsets," NBC’s Michele Tafoya reported during the game's telecast. "Word is that they were getting some kind of Patriots radio broadcast bleeding into those headsets. While that was going on, the Patriots' coach-to-coach headsets were shut off so that things were leveled."
The disruption occurred due to a 'grounding issue', according to CSNNE.com's Tom Curran.
Pittsburgh's coaches never lost radio communication, but it was notably hindered. Both teams struggled with the same frequency issue, per Curran.
