The New Orleans Pelicans have signed Corey Webster to a three-year non-guaranteed training camp deal, according to multiple reports.

The New Zealand Herald confirmed the signing on Sunday.

The 26-year-old combo guard arrived in New Orleans earlier this month to participate in the team's talent evaluation proceedings. After three days of training, it appears Webster did enough to pique the interest of the Pelicans' coaches and front office, earning himself a shot at making the team's regular-season roster.

"I am not there yet but this is another positive step towards my dream of playing in the NBA," Webster said on Saturday.

Webster, who re-signed with the New Zealand Breakers of Australia's National Basketball League in June, was invited to an Indiana Pacers workout that same month.

While his deal with the Pelicans represents a significant milestone for the 6-foot-2 floor general, Webster realizes that the onus is on him to seize the opportunity in front of him.

"It is again up to me now to prove my value to the organization, to put my head down and give it my best shot at training camp," he said.

Webster performed well for his national team, the New Zealand "Tall Blacks," this summer at the 2015 FIBA Oceania Championship.

Despite losing both games to Australia in the two-team Olympic qualification mini-tournament, Webster averaged 19 points in New Zealand's two games against their Oceania rivals.

With the Pelicans' camp set to open on Sept. 29, Webster will likely compete with Sean Kilpatrick and Bryce Dejean-Jones for a spot on the final roster.
