To those of you who rostered Tyler Eifert on Sunday, congratulations!

To those of you who didn't ... don't expect him to come as cheaply in Week 2.

Eifert emerged as one of Sunday's biggest daily fantasy stars, hauling in nine passes for 104 yards and two scores despite being priced well outside the top-10 on the majority of DFS sites. Eifert's breakout highlighted a fascinating opening Sunday, one that featured its share of surprising star showings - and dud performances.

Value Plays of the Day

POS NAME STAT LINE
QB Marcus Mariota (TEN) 209 PASS YDS/4 TD
RB Chris Ivory (NYJ) 91 RUSH YDS/2 TD
RB Danny Woodhead (SD) 42 RUSH YDS/2 TD
WR Stevie Johnson (SD) 6 REC/82 YDS/TD
TE Tyler Eifert (CIN) 9 REC/104 YDS/2 TD

Mariota stunned just about everyone by stinging the Buccaneers defense for four first-half passing TDs. He's due for a major raise. ... Ivory and Woodhead provided four combined scores for the price of one elite running back; Ivory looked particularly good, and should see a significant price bump this week. ... Keenan Allen was the star for the Chargers, but Johnson provided terrific value at a bargain price. ... Eifert looked like a star, and could be among the five highest-priced tight ends before long.

Stud Plays of the Day

POS NAME STAT LINE
QB Tony Romo (DAL) 356 PASS YDS/3 TD/2 INT
RB Matt Forte (CHI) 141 RUSH YDS/TD; 25 REC YDS
WR Keenan Allen (SD) 15 REC/166 YDS
WR DeAndre Hopkins (HOU) 9 REC/98 YDS/2 TD
TE Travis Kelce (KC) 6 REC/106 YDS/2 TD

Romo was sensational despite losing No. 1 receiver Dez Bryant to a broken foot, but he may be in tough to maintain that torrid pace without his top target. ... Forte was a beast against Green Bay - and those five catches are encouraging. ... Allen set a career high in receptions and should remain the centerpiece of the San Diego offense. ... Hopkins should see lines like this often as Houston's only credible receiving threat. ... Kelce had a monster game against a solid Texans defense; he's a top-3 TE moving forward.

Dud Plays of the Day

POS NAME STAT LINE
QB Peyton Manning (DEN) 175 PASS YDS/INT
RB C.J. Anderson (DEN) 29 RUSH YDS; 4 REC/19 YDS
WR Odell Beckham Jr. (NYG) 5 REC/44 YDS
WR Calvin Johnson (DET) 2 REC/39 YDS
TE Greg Olsen (CAR) 1 REC/11 YDS

Manning couldn't get anything going against a Ravens team he torched for seven touchdowns in the 2013 season opener. Be concerned moving forward. ... Anderson also struggled, and was actually outperformed by No. 2 back Ronnie Hillman. ... Beckham was the victim of a horrible game from QB Eli Manning, who managed just 193 yards through the air. ... Johnson was targeted just four times, well behind team leader Golden Tate (eight). ... Olsen was a non-factor in a game in which Carolina ran the ball 35 times.

Injury Notes

  • X-rays on the throwing hand of Raiders QB Derek Carr came back negative, so he may return to the field Week 2 against Baltimore. If he doesn't, Matt McGloin will start - and Oakland receivers will suffer.
