DFS: Mystery Men - Week 2's Top Sleeper Picks

When identifying sleeper picks, you don't want to flail blindly and pick any random name. There has to be some semblance of upside. Otherwise, you're just throwing a hail mary into quadruple coverage to a receiver with no arms.

This week's picks should reflect decent upside, but the floors are usually low. In tournament play, you're looking for that maximum ceiling. There is always risk involved, but the reward is worth it when you hit your mark.

QB: Nick Foles, Rams (at Redskins)

There's probably an argument for Johnny Manziel as he takes over for the concussed Josh McCown, but the receiving options in Cleveland are dire even against a favourable matchup with Tennessee.

Nick Foles threw for 297 yards with one touchdown and zero interceptions in Week 1. He did this against the Seattle Seahawks, one of the top defenses in the NFL.

Week 2 against Washington looks like a much easier matchup, and yet Foles is going to remain a relative budget option at QB. He could easily eclipse his totals from this past Sunday and help distribute funds at more premium positions in DFS.

RB: Benny Cunningham, Rams (at Redskins)

Whether you go with Foles or not, Cunningham will provide you with an inexpensive RB or FLEX option who will get starter's carries plus receptions. Foles hooked up with him four times for 77 yards against Seattle, making his 45 rushing yards a bit more palatable.

While waiting for erstwhile Rams starter Tre Mason and injured rookie Todd Gurley to return, Cunningham fit in as the automatic replacement. Gurley, as of Thursday, is not expected to play in Week 2 but Mason is much more likely.

Cunningham remains a GPP option, albeit a very risky one, by virtue of his involvement in the passing game even with one of the other running stalwarts lining up behind Foles.

WR: Mohamed Sanu, Bengals (vs. Chargers)

Sanu saw his production crater in the final weeks of 2014. He wasn't targeted more than three times in the last five weeks of the regular season (though he did see seven targets in the Bengals' postseason loss to Indianapolis).

For the first half of 2014, Sanu was a consistent threat in the Bengals' offense including 120 yard and 125 yard performances against the Panthers and Ravens, respectively. The caveat being A.J. Green was inactive during those games.

While he did only three passes come his way, Andy Dalton looked solid behind center. Dalton has a bevvy of targets in Jeremy Hill, Green, and Tyler Eifert so Sanu's a risky proposition. But against the high flying Chargers offense, it has the makings of a shootout, which could play big time in Sanu's favour.

TE: Darren Fells, Cardinals (at Bears)

This is an excellent, cheap pick at tight end. The Bears were abysmal against the position in 2014 and Fells looks like he will be an interesting target for Carson Palmer.

There was some concern that Jermaine Gresham would challenge Fells for receptions, but Week 1 suggests this will not be the case. Fells was the clear option at tight end with four catches, including a touchdown, and 82 yards receiving.

He's a bargain now, but he won't be for long if this keeps up.
