DFS: Week 2 Running Back Value Rankings
With the NFL season officially off and running, here's a look at Week 2's best value picks at running back (Thursday night game excluded):
Value Rankings
QB | RB | WR | TE
Top 5
# | NAME | OPPONENT | RISK |
---|---|---|---|
1 | Mark Ingram (NO) | vs. TB | Low |
2 | DeMarco Murray (PHI) | vs. DAL | Low |
3 | Matt Forte (CHI) | vs. ARI | Low |
4 | Jeremy Hill (CIN) | vs. SD | Low |
5 | Adrian Peterson (MIN) | vs. DET | Low |
Ingram is clearly a Drew Brees favorite in the post-Jimmy Graham offense, and gets a juicy Week 2 home date with the terrible Buccaneers. Murray has the highest floor of the week based solely on the revenge factor, while Forte, Hill and Peterson are all great bets to score at least one touchdown apiece in favorable home games.
Next 5
# | NAME | OPPONENT | RISK |
---|---|---|---|
6 | Justin Forsett (BAL) | at OAK | Low |
7 | Marshawn Lynch (SEA) | at GB | Low |
8 | LeSean McCoy (BUF) | vs. NE | Low |
9 | Lamar Miller (MIA) | at JAC | Low |
10 | Doug Martin (TB) | at NO | Low |
Forsett had a down game in Denver, but should easily bounce back versus a Raiders defense that was torched by Jeremy Hill in a Week 1 loss To Cincinnati. Ditto Lamar Miller, who remains the Dolphins' best offensive talent and a dangerous two-way back. Martin should sting the Saints - and if he doesn't, backup Charles Sims' footsteps might start to get louder.
Best of the Rest
# | NAME | OPPONENT | RISK |

11 | Chris Johnson (ARI) | at CHI | Medium |
12 | Eddie Lacy (GB) | vs. SEA | Medium |

14 | DeAngelo Williams (PIT) | vs. SF | Medium |
15 | Rashad Jennings (NYG) | vs. ATL | Medium |
16 | Chris Ivory (NYJ) | at IND | Medium |
17 | Melvin Gordon (SD) | at CIN | Medium |
18 | Jonathan Stewart (CAR) | vs. HOU | Medium |
19 | Carlos Hyde (SF) | at PIT | Medium |
20 | T.J. Yeldon (JAC) | vs. MIA | Medium |
21 | Alfred Morris (WAS) | vs. STL | Medium |
22 | Frank Gore (IND) | vs. NYJ | Medium |
23 | Ameer Abdullah (DET) | at MIN | Medium |
24 | LeGarrette Blount (NE) | at BUF | Medium |
25 | Latavius Murray (OAK) | vs. BAL | Medium |
CJ2015K is alive and well, named the No. 1 back in Andre Ellington's injury absence staring at a plus matchup against the Bears. He's a solid tournament play. Temper expectations for Ivory, who goes from tearing apart a sad Browns run defense to tangling with the Colts in Indianapolis. Blount returns from a one-game suspension, but should struggle against the Bills.

Feeling brave? Go ahead and roster Dunbar, who racked up targets following Dez Bryant's foot injury and is easily the Cowboys' best backfield receiver. He could be worth a look in GPPs in what should be a shootout at Philadelphia. David Johnson could be thrust into a more prominent role if Chris Johnson struggles, while Sims is in a similar situation with Tampa Bay.
