DFS: Week 2 Wide Receiver Value Rankings
More than a few big-ticket wide receivers failed to return anything resembling daily fantasy value in Week 1.
Which receivers are due for a bounce-back? And whose swoons will continue? Here's a look at wide receiver value rankings for Week 2 (Thursday night game excluded):
Value Rankings
QB | RB | WR | TE
Top 5
# | NAME | OPPONENT | RISK |
---|---|---|---|
1 | Antonio Brown (PIT) | vs. SF | Low |
2 | A.J. Green (CIN) | vs. SD | Low |
3 | Keenan Allen (SD) | at CIN | Low |
4 | Julio Jones (ATL) | at NYG | Low |
5 | Odell Beckham Jr. (NYG) | vs. ATL | Low |
Forget low-risk: Brown is as close to zero-risk as a player can get. Facing a weakened San Francisco defense at home and aided by the pinpoint passing of QB Ben Roethlisberger, Brown is the top WR play in both cash games and GPPs. Green and Allen go toe-to-toe in a game that should see both rack up 8+ catches, while Jones and Beckham are slightly lower due to their price.
Next 5
# | NAME | OPPONENT | RISK |
---|---|---|---|
6 | Jordan Matthews (PHI) | vs. DAL | Low |
7 | Brandin Cooks (NO) | vs. TB | Low |
8 | Mike Evans (TB) | at NO | Low |
9 | Amari Cooper (OAK) | vs. BAL | Low |
10 | Alshon Jeffery (CHI) | vs. ARI | Low |
Matthews should have little trouble carving up the Cowboys secondary, particularly with Nelson Agholor drawing his share of coverage. Evans' rank is contingent on a return to health, while Cooper should see 10+ targets against a formidable Ravens secondary. Jeffery is a high-risk play against the Cardinals, but remains the focal point of a high-octane offense.
Best of the Rest
# | NAME | OPPONENT | RISK |
---|---|---|---|
11 | Calvin Johnson (DET) | at MIN | Low |
12 | DeAndre Hopkins (HOU) | at CAR | Low |
13 | Amari Cooper (OAK) | vs. BAL | Low |
14 | Randall Cobb (GB) | vs. SEA | Low |
15 | Jarvis Landry (MIA) | at JAC | Low |
16 | T.Y. Hilton (IND) | vs. NYJ | Medium |
17 | Pierre Garcon (WAS) | vs. STL | Medium |
18 | Kendall Wright (TEN) | at CLE | Medium |
19 | Brandon Marshall (NYJ) | at IND | Medium |
20 | Sammy Watkins (BUF) | vs. NE | Medium |
21 | Vincent Jackson (TB) | at NO | Medium |
22 | Nelson Agholor (PHI) | vs. DAL | Medium |
23 | Larry Fitzgerald (ARI) | at CHI | Medium |
24 | John Brown (ARI) | at CHI | Medium |
25 | Julian Edelman (NE) | at BUF | Medium |
26 | Golden Tate (DET) | at MIN | Medium |
27 | Terrance Williams (DAL) | at PHI | Medium |
28 | Davante Adams (GB) | vs. SEA | Medium |
29 | Steve Smith (BAL) | at OAK | Medium |
30 | Brandon Coleman (NO) | vs. ARI | Medium |
Johnson had just four targets in the season-opening loss to San Diego; here's betting he sees plenty more against the Vikings. Hilton carries injury risk - and faces a difficult D to boot - while it's a toss-up between Fitzgerald and Brown as Carson Palmer's target of choice this week. Williams could be a sneaky value play with Dez Bryant out with a broken foot.

49 | Cole Beasley (DAL) | at PHI | High |
50 | Allen Hurns (JAC) | vs. MIA | High |
Can Roddy repeat? That's an important question, since he represents terrific potential value if he can approach what he did in Week 1. Take a shot in GPPs if he's healthy, as the Falcons will need to rack up the passing yards against the Giants. Other GPP fliers here include Harvin - a constant deep threat - and Beasley, who should see increased exposure with Bryant on the sidelines.
