Jets trade Ladd to Blackhawks for Dano, 1st-round pick

It'll be a second tour of duty in Chicago for Andrew Ladd.

The Winnipeg Jets dealt their captain, and perhaps the most coveted rental asset on the market, back to the Blackhawks in exchange for a package including forward Marko Dano, a first-round draft pick, and a conditional draft selection in 2018.

Ladd, who was part of Chicago's first of three Stanley Cup championship titles over the last six seasons, will have Winnipeg pay 36 percent of his salary in order to have the numbers work, TSN's Darren Dreger reports.

Defenseman Jay Harrison and forward Matt Fraser will also land in Chicago as part of the deal. The conditional draft pick hinges on whether the Blackhawks win their fourth championship in seven seasons.

Ladd's three-year run with the Blackhawks ended just weeks after winning the second Stanley Cup of his career, his first coming as a rookie with the Carolina Hurricanes in 2006. He scored 37 goals and 99 points in 184 games with the Blackhawks, and another 10 in his two postseason runs.

Dano appeared in just 13 games for Chicago after being acquired in the deal that sent Brandon Saad - another casualty of the team's dynastic run - to the Columbus Blue Jackets. He was selected 27th overall in 2013.

And though he's spent the last three months in the minors, he could be in the Jets' lineup this weekend, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
