Report: Kobe medically cleared for all basketball activities

Los Angeles Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant is now medically cleared to partake in all basketball activities, according to a report from Bleacher Report's Kevin Ding.

The 17-time All-Star, about to enter his 20th NBA season, has been sidelined since January with a torn right rotator cuff.

Bryant, 37, returned to the court several weeks ago for the first time since his Jan. 28 surgery, posting an update on Instagram on how he was putting up shots again.

His return coincides with what doctors originally projected when setting his recovery time at approximately nine months. General manager Mitch Kupchak recently told USA Today's Sam Amick that he expected Bryant to have a clean bill of health in time for training camp, which begins on Sept. 29 in Honolulu.

In 35 games last season, Bryant averaged 22.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 5.6 assists per game, while shooting 37.3 percent from the field, with a player efficiency rating of 17.6.

Injuries are always going to be a major concern for Bryant until he ultimately decides to call it a career. The five-time champion has played a combined 41 games over the past two seasons while dealing with his rotator cuff, an Achilles injury, and bad knees.

Set to make a cool $25 million in the final season of his two-year extension, "The Black Mamba" remains undecided on whether 2015-16 will be his swan song. Bryant's decision may ultimately stem off of how the Lakers respond following a franchise-worst .256 (21-61) winning percentage last year.
