Trailing Cal 45-24 in the fourth quarter, it appeared as if Texas was on its way to another humiliating loss. Then magic happened ... but it didn't last.
The Longhorns scored three unanswered touchdowns, including a pair of rushing TDs by newly cemented starting quarterback Jerrod Heard.
Heard's second rushing touchdown of the fourth came with one minute and 11 seconds left, and put Texas within an extra point of tying the game.
Then, disaster happened.
Nick Rose's missed PAT kept the Longhorns from forcing overtime and handed a victory to the Golden Bears. After such a miraculous comeback, losing like that is an absolute punch to the gut.
The reactions of players on both teams after the miss tells the whole story.
