Report: Pistons monitoring Markieff Morris's situation with the Suns
Another reunion could be in the cards for the Morris brothers.
Three months after trading for Marcus Morris, the Detroit Pistons are monitoring the availability of his twin brother Markieff, reports Vincent Ellis of the Detroit Free Press.
The Phoenix Suns, however, have attached a "steep" price tag to Markieff, Ellis adds.
Markieff made no secret of his displeasure with the Suns' decision to trade Marcus, after which he issued two public trade demands in an effort to force his way out of Phoenix (which earned him a fine from the league) but his tone changed entirely after coming into training camp.
"I'm excited," Markieff told Paul Coro of the Arizona Republic, when asked how he feels about being back after a tumultuous summer. "Happy to be back. Happy to be with my team."
Markieff's sudden change of heart certainly helps the Suns, who are painfully thin at power forward. Add in his bargain four-year, $32-million contract and the Suns' reticence to move him becomes obvious.
The Pistons, meanwhile, could stand to improve at power forward, but they don't have a pressing need, either. Head coach Stan Van Gundy has three stretch-fours in Ersan Ilyasova, Anthony Tolliver, and Marcus Morris at his disposal.
If the right deal could be consummated, however, that could end a lot of headaches for everyone involved.
