Virginia Tech's Brewer likely to return Friday vs. NC State
Virginia Tech has listed quarterback Michael Brewer probable for the Hokies' game against NC State on Friday. The senior has not played since breaking his collarbone in the season opener against Ohio State.
Brewer had a metal plate and six screws inserted into his left shoulder after breaking the collarbone Sept. 7. Prior to the injury, Brewer started 14 straight games for Virginia Tech.
After falling to Ohio State, the Hokies went 2-2 without their starting quarterback.
In Brewer's absence, junior Brenden Motley stepped in and compiled a stat line of 64-for-112 for 861 yards with seven touchdowns and five interceptions.
Last season, Brewer completed just under 60 percent of his passes and threw for 2,692 yards, 18 touchdowns, and 15 picks.
In other Hokies news, defensive tackle Corey Marshall and safety DesmondFrye - who have both started games for Virginia Tech this season - are listed as doubtful to play versus NC State because of hamstring injuries.
