VIDEO: Jones robs former teammate Toffoli
You know San Jose Sharks goalie Martin Jones wanted Wednesday's season opener against the Los Angeles Kings - his former team - bad.
And Jones came to play. Watch him rob former teammate Tyler Toffoli from in close in the second period:
Jones spent two seasons with the Kings, starting 29 games and posting an impressive .923 save percentage along with seven shutouts since 2013.
Jones' Sharks career is off to a solid start, as he backstopped San Jose to a 5-1 win over the Kings in what was a chippy all-California season opener.
New Sharks captain Joe Pavelski led the charge for his club, scoring a goal and adding two assists, while firing seven shots on goal. Joe Thornton had a goal and an assist, while Marc-Edouard Vlasic added two helpers.
The game ended with fireworks: Kings forward Milan Lucic took a run at Sharks center Logan Couture, after Couture stunned Lucic with a hit in the neutral zone as Couture came out of the penalty box.
Lucic received a match penalty for following Couture to the Sharks' bench and trying to put him into it. He faces a suspension pending a review.
Earlier in the game, Couture was on the receiving end of a clumsy and dangerous hit from Dustin Brown, which the league may also review Thursday.
