Aguero diagnosed with Grade 2 hamstring tear: 'I won't be playing for a month'
The extent of Sergio Aguero's hamstring injury was revealed Friday, and it doesn't bode well for Manchester City.
After Aguero exited the pitch on a stretcher 22 minutes into Argentina's historic 2-0 defeat at home to Ecuador in 2018 World Cup qualifying, the Asociacion del Futbol Argentino (AFA) published a statement that says he suffered a Grade 2 muscle tear.
Although the AFA didn't provide a timeline for Aguero's recovery, Sky Sports noted that a Grade 2 tear to the hamstring can require anywhere from two-to-eight weeks of recuperation, meaning the mohawk-clad Argentinian might be unable to represent City until December.
However, in conversation with TyC Sports, Aguero estimated he'll be back well before then.
"I think I won't be playing for a month," he said, according to La Nacion.
Aguero is no stranger to hamstring problems and required treatment at the interval of City's 6-1 thrashing of Newcastle United on Saturday, a Premier League fixture in which he remarkably scored five times in 20 minutes.
