Agent: 'We're trying to figure out' what's ailing Ryan Johansen
What's wrong with Ryan Johansen remains a mystery.
The Columbus Blue Jackets center was sent home from the team's road trip due to illness, while a report by the Columbus Dispatch's Aaron Portzline and Shawn Mitchell on Sunday indicated Johansen was hospitalized in the summer due to an accelerated heart rate.
Johansen was cleared on that front, and his agent, Kurt Overhardt, reiterated Monday there's nothing wrong with his client's heart, but the nature of his current ailment remains unclear.
"It's nothing with his heart. He's just not feeling well, and we're trying to figure out why," Overhardt told Portzline. "His energy level has been down. There's no alarm here. We want to do the right thing and make sure he's 100 percent when he's on the ice."
The Blue Jackets play two more games on the road before returning home for a meeting with the Winnipeg Jets on Saturday. No timetable has been set for Johansen's return.
Johansen recorded a goal and five assists in eight games for Columbus before he was forced out of the lineup.
