Mets unfazed by substance on Perez's shinguard in Game 1
Neither Ned Yost nor Terry Collins found anything objectionable about the brown substance on Kansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez's right shinguard during Game 1 of the World Series on Tuesday, though it did cause a bit of a stir on social media.

Yost, whose franchise has a dubious history of illicit pine tar use, was quick to absolve Perez of wrongdoing after his club's thrilling 5-4, 14-inning victory over the New York Mets.
"That's not illegal. It's only illegal if a pitcher has it, not a catcher," Yost told Jon Heyman of CBS Sports, adding that he didn't know what the substance was.
Mets manager Collins, who watched Perez throw out David Wright trying to steal second base in the top of the ninth, was similarly unfazed.
"It's nothing," he said.
