Cespedes exits Game 5 after fouling pitch off leg
New York Mets slugger Yoenis Cespedes exited Game 5 of the World Series on Sunday after fouling a pitch off his left leg during the sixth inning.
Cespedes immediately fell to the ground and clutched his leg in pain as the team's medical staff rushed to his aid. He remained in the game and flied out to shortstop with the bases loaded for the first out of the sixth.
The pitch - a 95-mph fastball from Kansas City Royals right-hander Edinson Volquez - deflected off Cespedes' bat and appeared to hit him above his left knee.
After limping back to the dugout following his at-bat, Cespedes was replaced by Juan Lagares in center field prior to the top of the seventh. According to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports, Cespedes underwent an X-ray, which revealed a knee contusion, but no fracture. He's considered day to day.

Cespedes' exit is the latest blow in a series of setbacks for the Cuban slugger this postseason. He reportedly injured his shoulder while doing pushups prior to Game 4 of the NLCS in Chicago, before exiting the series clincher due to lingering pain.
The shoulder injury has seemingly zapped his production at the plate and in the field, where Cespedes has made several defensive misplays. He's batting .150/.143/.150 during the World Series, and has just three extra-base hits through 15 postseason games.
