PHOTO: Wright leads Mets back onto field to salute fans after devastating loss
David Wright and the New York Mets came up short in their quest for World Series glory in Game 5, but the dejected group didn't forget about the rabid fan base that's supported them all season long
The Mets captain led his group back onto the field following the devastating 7-2 loss in 12 innings to salute the fans at Citi Field. The fans still in attendance responded by cheering Wright and Co. and serenading the players with chants of "Let's go Mets!" and "Thank you Mets!"

"These guys, these fans turned what could have been the worst year I've had into the most fun, most exciting on a baseball field," Wright said. "We were the National League champions ... We had a pretty damn good year."
Wright, who was diagnosed with spinal stenosis this summer, hit .185/.313/.278 with a home run and seven RBIs in 14 postseason games.
