Harry Giles, No. 1 recruit in 2016, out for season with torn ACL
Harry Giles, the consensus No. 1 recruit in 2016 and potential top overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, partially tore his right ACL on Tuesday and will miss the entire high school season, Giles' father confirmed to ESPN. The injury came two minutes into his team's season opener.
Giles has yet to declare which school he'll attend next year, though he is expected to do so Friday. He has taken official visits to Duke, Kentucky, Kansas, and Wake Forest, and also has an offer in hand from North Carolina.
Two summers ago, Giles tore the ACL and MCL in his left knee. Following a return to health, the 17-year-old reestablished himself as arguably the best basketball prospect in his class.
Giles, a 6-foot-9 forward, hails from Winston Salem, N.C., but plays at Oak Hill Academy in Virginia, the same school that produced Carmelo Anthony and several other notable NBA players.
