NC State's Matthew Dayes out for season with foot injury

N.C. State running back Matthew Dayes' foot injury - suffered last week against Clemson - will require surgery, the school announced Thursday, ending the season for the Wolfpack's leading rusher.
The junior's absence will be a huge loss for coach Dave Doeren's club, as he leads the ACC with 12 rushing touchdowns, and his 108 rush yards per game are the most for a Wolfpack player since 1981.
The news comes at a terrible time for N.C. State, with a weekend matchup looming against Boston College and their top-ranked rush defense in the nation.
