Report: Sharks' Marleau 'driving the bus' on potential trade
It appears as though Patrick Marleau has been banging the drum on a trade all season long.
The 36-year-old longtime Sharks forward "appears to be driving the bus" on what's rumored to be his impending departure from San Jose, and has been angling for a move since as early as training camp, according to TSN's Bob McKenzie.
Wednesday's report comes after whispers surfaced Tuesday that Marleau had provided a list of three teams - the Anaheim Ducks, Los Angeles Kings, and New York Rangers - for whom he would be willing to waive his no-trade clause.
Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported last Saturday that Marleau's name was "out there" in the trade market.
Marleau, who has scored four goals and nine points in 15 games, represents a significant investment for a would-be suitor. He'll cost $6.667 million against the salary cap for the next two seasons.
