Report: Kings' Cousins cursing out Karl led to team meeting
The marathon of dysfunction appears to continue.
Sacramento Kings center DeMarcus Cousins cursed out head coach George Karl in front of the rest of the team after Monday's loss to the San Antonio Spurs, which precipitated Tuesday's much-discussed team meeting, according to The Big Lead's Jason McIntyre.
Cousins reportedly unleashed a diatribe of F-words at the coach, who then walked away. The franchise player later indicated some remorse for the outburst.
Team vice president and general manager Vlade Divac would only say Tuesday the team "had a problem in the family" that was resolved in the meeting.
Cousins and Karl are no strangers to rancor. After the veteran coach took over the Kings at midseason last year, there were rumors Cousins was on the trading block. It culminated with Divac admitting the relationship was "not pretty" and Cousins hitting send on a cryptic "snakes in the grass" tweet. Both subsequently pledged to work together.
Monday was Cousins' first contest back from a four-game absence due to a sore Achilles. The Kings are last in the Western Conference at 1-7 going into Wednesday's action.
