LeBron says he's 'out of rhythm' with 3-point shot
Even the King struggles from time to time.
LeBron James is enjoying yet another stellar season while leading the Cleveland Cavaliers to a sterling 7-1 record, but there's one blemish on his record.
James, who has shot 37.5 percent from deep over the past four seasons, has hit only six of 29 3-point attempts (20.7 percent) this season.
He isn't worried by the slow start, however, attributing the blip to a lack of rhythm.
"What's going on with my 3-point shooting? Just out of rhythm," James told ESPN's Dave McMenamin. "You know, I've got to continue to work on it. It's not like I'm Steph Curry or J.J. Redick, anyways."
Another source of James' shooting woes could be his bad back, which hampered him for most of preseason. His condition appears to be improving, however, as he's shot better (4-of-11 from deep) over his past three games.
James has also only played eight games this season, so sharp variation is common in such a small sample.
Regardless of the source of his woes, James says he won't stop shooting threes.
"I don’t need to," he said. "I mean, I’m going to continue to shoot (3-pointers) because I work on them. And they’ll fall. But that won’t stop me from getting to where I want to get to. I do work inside the paint or inside the 3-point line. I can make threes, but my game won’t be defined off 3-point shooting and jump-shooting. That’s not who I am."
