Stephen Curry passes father Dell Curry in all-time 3-point makes
Step aside, dad.
Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry passed his father, Dell Curry, in career 3-point makes with his 1,246th career 3-pointer against the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday.
Stephen drained three in the first half before hitting his fourth to pass Dell with three minutes in the third quarter.
It took Dell 1,083 games to rack up 1,245 3-pointers across his 16-year career. Stephen topped his total in 427 games.
Stephen has led the league in total 3-point makes in each of the last three seasons, and his total of 286 in 2014-15 broke his own record for most threes ever in a single season.
Incredibly, Stephen has taken his game to another level this season. He's hitting 5.2 threes per game, up from last year's average of 3.6, while also leading the league in points (33.3), PER (37.3), and true shooting percentage (70.9).
"I knew about it going into the game," Stephen said of his father's career mark. "It's a pretty special moment for my family. I'm sure he never dreamt of the day one of his sons would pass him."
Passing his father in the record books, however, won't change the hierarchy in the Curry household.
