Derrick Rose suffers ankle injury in win over Pacers
An unfortunately familiar scene played out in Chicago on Monday, with Derrick Rose hobbling off the court in a victory over the Indiana Pacers.
Rose has dealt with a litany of knee and leg injuries over the last number of years, and is still dealing with the effects of a preseason eye injury. Monday, he suffered a sprained left ankle during the fourth quarter and was ruled out for the remainder of the contest.
After rolling his ankle while drawing a foul on a baseline drive with 7:01 remaining, Rose stayed in the game to take two free throws, but left with 5:52 to go. He finished with 23 points, six assists, two rebounds, two steals, and a block on 9-of-18 shooting - one of his finer performances of the young season.
Rose, who has yet to miss a game this season, said after the game that it was too early to tell if the injury would force him to miss time.
"Who knows?" he told reporters. "Right now, I'm able to walk on it. That's a good thing."
Rose missed 130 games over the previous three seasons after becoming the youngest MVP in NBA history in 2011.
