Kobe consulted Jordan in summer, will reportedly not have farewell tour
When Kobe Bryant asked Michael Jordan for help on retiring this past summer, Hir Airness gave him one solid piece of advice: Relish the moment.
"Jordan is actually one of the first people that I told over the summer," said Bryant. "We had some laughs, went back and forth about it. But the important thing for him, he said, 'Just enjoy it. No matter what, just enjoy it. Don't let anybody take that away from you, no matter what happens, good or bad. Enjoy it, man.'"
However, Kobe does not want a lavish goodbye like the one MJ was given with the Washington Wizards, according to Mark Medina of the L.A. Daily News.
For his final game in Philadelphia, Jordan received a Teddy Pendergrass-led national anthem and a golf cart from then Sixers guard Eric Snow, a send off Kobe doesn't seem interested in.
After seeing Derek Jeter's elaborate farewell tour in 2014, Kobe wants to keep it low-key as he finishes up the 2015-16 season.
"(Jeter) and I couldn't be any more opposite personalities," Bryant stated. "We're completely different people. I couldn't do that."
However, Kobe will not be able to hide from all of the glory, as he's certain to get numerous standing ovations as he steps away from the game for good.
