Bolton confirms players still owed wages for November
Bolton's players are still waiting for their pay cheques for the month of November as the club deals with a "short-term funding issue," the Championship side confirmed on Monday.
The Wanderers posted debts of £172.9 million earlier in the year, with the current owner admitting he can no longer bankroll the team.
Former Chelsea chief executive Trevor Birch arrived as an adviser to the board, and is tasked with leading Bolton to new ownership.
Now the players, including well-travelled striker Emile Heskey, are feeling the effects of the club's financial mismanagement.
"This is due to a short-term funding issue," said Birch. "We are working hard behind the scenes and hope to have this resolved in a quick and timely manner and I will be meeting the players tomorrow to update them."
Bolton is doing no better on the pitch, falling to last place in the English second division after winning just once in 17 matches.
