Max Holloway bests Jeremy Stephens via unanimous decision
Max Holloway is a better mixed martial artist than Jeremy Stephens, plain and simple.
A defensive marvel, Holloway lived at range for most of Saturday's UFC 194 main card curtain-jerker, sniping Stephens from distance, and never allowing "Li'l Heathen" to uncork his deadly fists.
Early in the final stanza, Holloway scored a takedown and started working Stephens over with heavy elbows, and attempted rear-naked chokes, but was never able to seal the deal. Sensing he needed a dramatic finish, a now upright Stephens started winging wild punches in the waning moments of the bout, but ultimately couldn't land a kill shot, as Holloway was always a ghost - a ghost who answered with slick counters.
Following the bout, Holloway needlessly apologized for his performance, and challenged the winner of Aldo-McGregor
Holloway is thanking everyone in the building. And challenges McGregor at Croke Park or Aldo in Hawaii. He’s hyped up.
