Monday's Small Forward Value Rankings

Steve Mitchell / USA TODAY Sports

Here are theScore's small forward value rankings for Monday, December 14's 10-game slate:

Value Rankings

PG | SG | SF | PF | C

Top Options

Name Opponent Value
Otto Porter (WAS) at MEM 10
Danilo Gallinari (DEN) vs. HOU 9
Kawhi Leonard (SA) vs. UTA 8
Paul George (IND) vs. TOR 8
Robert Covington (PHI) at CHI 8

Porter is notoriously inconsistent, but will have more responsibility in the wake of Bradley Beal's two-week absence. Porter scored a career-high 28 points Saturday and regularly contributes strong rebound, assist and steal totals.

Gallinari is averaging 35 minutes and has ample opportunity to fill the stat sheet with the up-and-down Rockets coming to town. Leonard and George have the highest ceilings, but they're the most expensive players at the position, and in Leonard's case, there's always the question of how many minutes he'll play. As always, Covington may have to pour it on to keep his team competitive.

Best of the Rest

Name Opponent Value
Joe Johnson (BKN) vs. ORL 7
Gordon Hayward (UTA) at SA 7
Al-Farouq Aminu (POR) vs. NO 7
Tobias Harris (ORL) at BKN 7
Marcus Morris (DET) vs. LAC 7
Jared Dudley (WAS) at MEM 6
Corey Brewer (HOU) at DEN 6
Mirza Teletovic (PHX) at DAL 6
C.J. Miles (IND) vs. TOR 6
Kent Bazemore (ATL) vs. MIA 6
Jerami Grant (PHI) at CHI 6
Thabo Sefolosha (ATL) vs. MIA 6
Jeff Green (MEM) vs. WAS 6

Hayward has been playing well of late, but should draw a defensive assignment from Leonard. Dudley will likely see upwards of 30 minutes to the Wizards' litany of injuries, but expectations should be somewhat tempered, as he isn't a big-time scorer. Brewer is a reliable contributor despite inconsistent minutes. Bazemore and Sefolosha somewhat cannibalize each other's value. Green could be of interest if he retains his small-ball PF role into Monday.

Nothing to See Here

Name Opponent Value
Evan Fournier (ORL) at BKN 5
T.J. Warren (PHX) at DAL 5
Chandler Parsons (DAL) vs. PHX 4
Marcus Thornton (HOU) at DEN 4
Alonzo Gee (NO) at POR 4
Luol Deng (MIA) at ATL 4
Jonathan Simmons (SA) vs. UTA 4

Fournier has been slumping since a strong early-season performance. Parsons doesn't play much more than 20 minutes per game. Gee and Deng have starting roles, but aren't major components of their team's offenses.

The minimum-priced Simmons has some appeal, having played at least 15 minutes in each of San Antonio's last four games, but will likely see extended time only in the event of a blowout.
