Mavericks' Parsons cleared to play back-to-backs

Bill Streicher / USA TODAY Sports

Dallas Mavericks small forward Chandler Parsons has finally been cleared to play games on back-to-back nights, and will do so for the first time against the Toronto Raptors and Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday and Wednesday, according to Dwain Price of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

The Mavs have brought Parsons along slowly as he recovers from offseason knee surgery, suppressing his playing time when they don't hold him out of the lineup entirely.

The 27-year-old is playing a career-low 21.7 minutes per game, though he played a season-high 31 in Dallas' last game. He set season highs in minutes in each of the two games prior, as well, but Friday was the first time Parsons looked like himself again. He dropped 16 points on 5-of-10 shooting and chipped in seven rebounds and seven assists in a nine-point win over the Memphis Grizzlies.

Parsons' averaging 8.8 points, three rebounds, and 1.6 assists, while shooting 43.9 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from 3-point range - all career lows.

He suggested earlier this month he'll play full and consistent minutes again come January.
