Warriors' Barnes won't return to lineup vs. Cavaliers

Despite gaining some momentum in his recovery from an ankle sprain, Golden State Warriors forward Harrison Barnes will not suit up against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The 23-year-old Barnes was upgraded to doubtful, and there was a "slight chance" of him returning in time for the Christmas Day rematch of last season's Finals, but he'll instead miss his 12th straight game.

When healthy, Barnes' all-around skill set gives the Warriors the ability to play different styles. He's quick enough to guard the perimeter, and strong enough to check power forwards in the post. And, of course, Barnes would have given Golden State another option to throw at LeBron James.

Golden State has fared just fine in Barnes' absence, however, going 10-1 on top of a 17-0 stretch to start the year.

The fourth-year forward is averaging 13.4 points and five rebounds while shooting 50 percent from the field this season.
