Report: Dolphins to interview 5 candidates this week for HC job
The Miami Dolphins have started lining up interviews for their head coaching vacancy.
The team is meeting with Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Teryl Austin on Tuesday and will then sit down with interim coach Dan Campbell for a formal interview Friday, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Campbell is considered a long shot for the job, but his connection to Bill Parcells could help him work his way onto the coaching staff in another capacity, Rapoport reports.
Dolphins owner Stephen Ross and executive vice president Mike Tannenbaum both have a great respect for the Hall of Fame coach. Campbell played under Parcells in Dallas.
Alex Marvez of FOX Sports reports that the Dolphins will also interview former Denver Broncos and Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan on Tuesday.
This will be Shanahan's second interview with the Dolphins, as ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that he also met with the team on Dec. 22.
And the search won't stop there. NFL Network's Rand Getlin says Jacksonville Jaguars assistant Doug Marrone is also on the Dolphins' list, and Rapoport says Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Adam Gase is, too.
