American youngster Jordan Morris to train with Werder Bremen

United States international Jordan Morris is having quite the year.

The 21-year-old forward scored his first senior international goal in August against Mexico, led his Stanford side to a NCAA championship, and has now garnered the attention of one of the Bundesliga's bigger clubs.

Born and raised in Seattle by a father who's currently the Sounders medical director, and a product of the local MLS side's under-23 academy, all signs would point to Morris lacing up the boots for his home club.

The Cascadians have also offered the forward the richest homegrown contract in league history, so his path as a professional footballer would seem obvious.

That is, until Werder Bremen offered the young striker a trial.

Morris will fly to southern Turkey, joining Die Werderaner for its winter training in Belek, where he'll train alongside fellow American international Aron Johannsson, according to the club's official website.

"It's a good opportunity for us to get to know a player better. Nothing more, nothing less," club sporting director Thomas Elchin said Tuesday.
