- It's only a matter of time. Stripped of the title following a hit-and-run accident last April, pound-for-pound czar Jon Jones is patiently waiting to reclaim his belt from pretender-to-the-throne Daniel Cormier. Cormier and Jones battled in the main event of UFC 182, with Jones walking away with a lopsided unanimous decision victory. At this point it's unknown when the rematch will happen, but many are anticipating it'll headline a potential card at Madison Square Garden on April 23.
- Ryan Bader's road to a light heavyweight title fight might run into a giant, powerful, terrifying road block Jan. 30. Riding a five-fight winning streak and fresh off a decision victory over Rashad Evans, "Darth" (timely nickname) faces the dynamite-fisted Anthony Johnson at UFC on FOX 18.
- After sitting on the shelf for nearly two years with various injuries, Evans didn't have the return he envisioned against Bader at UFC 192. Undeterred, "Suga" is looking for another contender, and is targeting a bout with two-time title challenger Alexander Gustafsson at some point in early 2016.
- After running roughshod over Emanuel Newton and Francis Carmont in the Bellator light heavyweight tournament, Phil Davis has a chance to wrap gold around his waist in 2016. He'll have to get past Liam McGeary, though, who submitted an over-the-hill Tito Ortiz in his last outing at Bellator 142.
