Bournemouth completes Grabban signing from Norwich City

Bournemouth has confirmed the signing of yet another attack-minded player in the January transfer window, bringing striker Lewis Grabban back to the club on a three-and-a-half-year contract.

Grabban, who arrives from Norwich City, previously played for the Cherries between 2012 and 2014.

Neither club disclosed the fee involved, but Ed Aarons of the Guardian reports that the transfer cost Bournemouth £8 million.

Bournemouth only completed the capture of Benik Afobe from Championship side Wolves on Sunday, spending a reported club record £10-million fee to bring the 22-year-old to Dean Court. The addition of Grabban also accompanies the loan signing of Juan Iturbe from Roma.

Grabban helped Norwich achieve promotion to the Premier League in 2014-15, scoring 12 goals in the Championship. But he has struggled to find playing time this season, starting just three league matches. The Canaries suspended Grabban in August after he skipped a League Cup fixture.

Manager Alex Neil confirmed back then that Bournemouth had bid three times for Grabban. Norwich has now finally budged.

Grabban initially joined the Norfolk club from Bournemouth in 2014 for £3 million.

It could use the proceeds from the sale of the 27-year-old to secure the signing of Steven Naismith from Everton. Norwich reportedly has a deal in place to sign Naismith for £8 million.
