Report: Browns making 'big push' to hire Hue Jackson
The Cleveland Browns are making a "big push" to hire Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Hue Jackson as their next head coach, reports Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, according to a source.
The Browns are in serious contention to hire the popular Jackson largely because they have offered him significant influence on personnel decisions, sources told Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports.
Jackson has also been linked to jobs with the San Francisco 49ers and New York Giants.
It seems the Browns have identified Jackson as their top target and are trying to close a deal before another team can swoop in with a more lucrative offer.
Jackson has previous head coaching experience with the Oakland Raiders in 2011 and has presided over a Bengals offense that has become one of the league's best over the past two seasons.
