Confirming quotes last week from Saint-Etienne manager Christophe Galtier, Swansea City's out-of-favour full-back Franck Tabanou has rejoined Les Verts on loan for the remainder of the season.
Tabanou, 26, has yet to appear in a league match for the Swans, with only two League Cup and an FA Cup appearance to his name after signing during the summer transfer window for a reported fee of £3.5 million.
Struggling to find first-team playing time behind fellow full-back Neil Taylor, Tabanou will now return to the club where he spent two seasons following a transfer from Toulouse in the summer of 2013.
"I left for Swansea to move up a level, test out the Premier League, and why not go higher after that? Unfortunately it didn't go like I wanted it to," Tabanou told reporters, courtesy of ESPN FC.
"I don't understand. And I think that, if I stayed, my situation would not have developed. The club is not in a great position and despite that they never played me."
Saint-Etienne has enjoyed a standout season this year, climbing to fifth in the Ligue 1 table following a defeat of hated rivals Lyon in the Rhone-Alpes derby to put the club two points shy of third place Angers and a coveted Champions League berth.
