Gareth Bale's agent calls for investigation after details of client's transfer leaked
Gareth Bale's agent, Jonathan Barnett, wants answers.
On Thursday, one day after Football Leaks released a six-page document that contains the details of Bale's world-record transfer from Tottenham Hotspur to Real Madrid, Barnett demanded that an inquiry take place, calling the leak "outrageous" and "disgraceful."
When the transfer took place in 2013, its value was reported at €100 million (£85.2 million), while Real Madrid has long maintained that the Spanish club paid €91.59 million (£78 million).
AS has calculated that the document Football Leaks released, which is being widely published in Spain, values Bale's transfer at €100,759,418 because Real Madrid opted to pay in installments rather than up front. If that figure is accurate, it eclipses the reported €96-million sum that Los Blancos paid for Cristiano Ronaldo in 2009, suggesting that Real Madrid did indeed forbid Tottenham from disclosing financial details of Bale's transfer to appease the Portuguese superstar.

"There should be an inquiry and an independent investigation because it's outrageous," Barrett told Telegraph Sport. "There also needs to be an apology from the Football Association to the clubs and the player. I think it's disgraceful that people can get hold of this sort of stuff. It shows complete disregard for both clubs and the player."
Journalist Jonathan Northcraft told the BBC this month that he was asked by Real Madrid not to mention the subject of Bale's transfer fee when he interviewed the Welshman "because Cristiano Ronaldo doesn't like that someone else cost more than him."
