Zinedine Zidane 'annoyed' by James Rodriguez speculation

Speculation about James Rodriguez's future at Real Madrid is starting to frustrate manager Zinedine Zidane.

The Real Madrid gaffer was forced to address rumours suggesting the Colombian is disgruntled at the club and whether the player is having issues off the pitch following an incident where Rodriguez failed to stop for police when he was caught exceeding the speed limit in Spain.

"I'm angered by what people are saying about James, but we have to put those rumours to one side," Zidane told reporters before Sunday's away match against Real Betis at the Estadio Benito Villamarin.

"I like what I see of James here. He's fully focused on what he's doing and I don't believe what is being said about him outside of the club. He looks committed and focused on what he does every day."

Despite his positive comments, Zidane wasn't willing to reveal whether he would give Rodriguez his first start since the New Year's Day incident.

"James has had a good week, as has everyone else. I'm pleased with what he's doing," he said.

"He's working really hard and we know just how important a player he is for this team."

Rodriguez has scored three goals and registered four assists in 11 La Liga appearances thus far.
