Kerr: Kawhi Leonard is 'probably the best 2-way player in the league'

Steve Kerr's Golden State Warriors have a roster littered with excellent two-way players. That's why they rank first in offense and third in defense.

No player on Kerr's roster exemplifies that more than breakout star Draymond Green, who's become a walking triple-double to this season to pair with his otherworldly defensive abilities.

However, Kerr sees San Antonio Spurs forward Kawhi Leonard as the ultimate two-way player.

"We always talk about two-way players and how important it is, especially in the modern NBA, where you can’t hide a guy at either end," Kerr told Monte Poole of CSN Bay Area. "He's probably the best two-way player in the league now."

It's a fair to debate whether Leonard or Green is better, but Kerr's right on the money with respect to Leonard's otherworldly abilities.

"You have to deal with him in all kinds of different ways," Kerr said. "He's a terror on defense, and offensively he's gotten better and better. His 3-point shooting is really, really good. And he's so strong that he can score around the rim. He's a great player, and it's kind of slowly but surely become his team in a lot of ways."

But, that can all be said for Green as well. Like Leonard, Green's a terror on defense and he's improved to the point of being a 41 percent 3-point shooter (Leonard, who entered the league with a broken jumper, is hitting 48 percent).

Either way, both players are playing vital roles on the league's top two teams, and as it happens, they'll meet Monday night to determine supremacy in the league. And given the positional fluidity of the Warriors, there should be plenty of opportunities for Green and Leonard to square off.
