Dwane Casey, Doc Rivers named Coaches of the Month
The Toronto Raptors' Dwane Casey and Los Angeles Clippers' Doc Rivers have been named Coaches of the Month for their respective conferences.
Casey led the Raptors to a 12-2 record in January, closing out the month with a franchise-record 11-game winning streak. Toronto's hot streak places the Raptors second in the Eastern Conference, with a comfortable five-and-a-half-game lead over the third-place Chicago Bulls.
Rivers led Los Angeles Clippers to an 11-3 record - a particularly impressive feat considering All-Star power forward Blake Griffin missed the entire month with a torn quadriceps.
Other nominees for the award included Gregg Popovich of the San Antonio Spurs, Steve Kerr and Luke Walton of the Golden State Warriors, Dave Joerger of the Memphis Grizzlies, Terry Stotts of the Portland Trail Blazers, and Billy Donovan of the Oklahoma City Thunder.
