Fantasy Spotlight: Adam Lind
Throughout the month of March, theScore examines hitters who represent their team's most intriguing fantasy plays. This edition focuses on Seattle Mariners first baseman Adam Lind.
2015 in Review: 572 PA, .277/.360/.460, 72 R, 20 HR, 87 RBI, 0 SB
The Good: Lind is an excellent platoon option in the real world and in daily fantasy. He can be used as such in season-long fantasy, though should be started against right-handed pitching, and benched against lefties. He batted .291 against RHPs last season, while hitting all 20 of his home runs and 24 of his 32 doubles against righties.
The Bad: Lind is a career .213 hitter against left-handed pitching and his power drops dramatically against southpaws. He's hit just 21 of his 166 career home runs against LHPs. He should be used in a platoon situation with Mariners RHH Jesus Montero, or a similar first baseman.
Best Comparison: Texas Rangers 1B Mitch Moreland
What's in Store: Lind is expected to bat fifth for the Mariners, slotting in behind 3B Kyle Seager, OF Nelson Cruz and 2B Robinson Cano in the heart of the order. While a true platoon would cap his upside, he should finish with around 20 home runs, and could total 60 RBI if the players in front of him are able to reach base with regularity.
Draft Outlook: Owners targeting Lind will need to stay committed to monitoring whether he's in the Mariners' lineup on a daily basis. He's best suited as a bench reserve in both AL-only and deeper, mixed leagues.
