Silver hopes for quick resolution to Griffin investigation
More than a week after Blake Griffin made headlines for fracturing his hand during an altercation with a team staff member, the NBA has yet to hand out any discipline for the incident.
However, NBA commissioner Adam Silver says the league's investigation is currently ongoing and alluded to the fact that it may reach its conclusion in the near future.
"The only update right now is we're continuing to investigate," Silver said to Sam Amick of USA TODAY Sports. "There (are) a lot of people that we want to talk to, and ultimately ensure that we have as complete an understanding as possible as to exactly what happened."
However, Silver admitted that any potential discipline would've been handed out more hastily if Griffin wasn't already out with a separate injury.
"Because of Blake's (quad) injury, we probably could have moved faster if we had needed to," Silver added. "But because we knew he was going to be out for an extended period anyway, we thought, 'Let's make sure we have … as complete an understanding as possible as to what happened.' But I'm hoping we can wrap this up relatively quickly."
Despite putting up All-Star numbers this season, the Clippers have fared surprisingly well without their big man, going 15-3 in his absence. Griffin could be out for another two months, so Los Angeles will try to continue its stellar play in the absence of the team's leading scorer.
