Johan Cruyff: I'm '2-0 up in the first half' of cancer battle
Johan Cruyff has provided an encouraging update on his battle with cancer.
The Dutch legend, who was diagnosed with lung cancer in October, said he feels "very positive" after the latest round of treatment. He's confident that, in the end, he'll come out victorious against the disease.
"After several medical treatments I can say that the results have been very positive, thanks to the excellent work of the doctors, the affection of the people, and my positive mentality," Cruyff said in a statement on his website.
"Right now, I have the feeling that I am 2-0 up in the first half of a match that has not finished yet. But I am sure that I will end up winning."
Cruyff, 68, enjoyed an illustrious football career both on and off the pitch. Following his brilliant playing career, Cruyff went on to manage his former teams - Ajax and Barcelona - where he won a combined six league titles.
