Henrik Lundqvist is the NHL's best goaltender
Lundqvist's skill set allows him to play deeper in the net than goalies traditionally do, and that's led to a mini-revolution in the crease as netminders attempt to replicate his style. Typically a slow starter, Lundqvist came out of the gates winning 10 of his first 14 starts this season, posting a 1.69 GAA and .947 save percentage in the process. Outside of the lockout shortened 2012-13 campaign, The King's won at least 30 games in each of his 11 seasons in the NHL. He's been the most important player for the Rangers, and the Swedish national team, for the better part of a decade. His years of success and continued consistency make him the most reliable option at his position, even at 34 years of age.
Braden Holtby is the NHL's best goaltender
While Holtby still has a ways to go to match Lundqvist's career achievements, the Capitals netminder can say he's currently at the top of his game. Holtby's stat line through the first three calendar months of this season all but locked up the Vezina Trophy for the 26 year old. He compiled a record of 24-4-1 with a 1.86 GAA and .938 save percentage in that time, helping the Capitals to the best record in the NHL, all while overcoming a litany of injuries along the blue line. He'll spend the final two weeks of the regular year making a run at Martin Brodeur's record of 48 wins in a season.
