Bulls' Butler out vs. Bucks after swelling in knee returns
After playing just one game in his return from a left knee sprain, Chicago Bulls All-Star swingman Jimmy Butler has been ruled out Monday night against the Milwaukee Bucks.
Butler had the knee swell up on him after practice Sunday, and is also dealing with stiffness in his back, according to head coach Fred Hoiberg. Butler will be evaluated by team doctors Monday night, and there is currently no timeline for his return.
In his first game back following an 11-game absence Friday, Butler scored 24 points, grabbed 11 rebounds, and handed out six assists in 34 minutes of action, as the Bulls - who went 3-8 without him - beat the Houston Rockets.
Butler generally looked spry and healthy, moving well, getting above the rim without issue, attacking the basket and taking 12 trips to the free-throw line. He registered a game-high plus-28 rating, and had the backsliding Bulls looking like the Bulls again.
For the season, Chicago has been 4.5 points per 100 possessions better with Butler on the floor.
