Tuesday's Goaltender Value Rankings
Here are theScore's goaltender value rankings for Tuesday, March 22:
Top Options
Name | Opponent | Value |
---|---|---|
Sergei Bobrovsky (CLB) | vs. PHI | 9 |
Martin Jones (SJ) | vs. STL | 8 |
Ben Bishop (TB) | vs. DET | 8 |
Steve Mason (PHI) | at CLB | 8 |
Mike Smith (ARI) | vs. EDM | 8 |
It's a tricky night in net. Bobrovsky and Mason are both somewhat intriguing plays despite playing against one another. Bobrovsky gets the slight edge for playing at home. Even though Blues winger Jaden Schwartz topped the winger rankings, Jones has had St. Louis' number this season, defeating them both times.
Smith has been outstanding in three starts since being activated, including a 44 save shutout against these Oilers.
Best of the Rest
Name | Opponent | Value |
---|---|---|
Braden Holtby (WAS) | at OTT | 7 |
Frederik Andersen (ANA) | at MTL | 7 |
Devan Dubnyk (MIN) | vs. LA | 7 |
Ryan Miller (VAN) | at WPG | 7 |
Jhonas Enroth (LA) | at MIN | 7 |
Holtby has been struggling, but a win against the Senators is certainly plausible. As is one for Andersen in Montreal. Enroth is potentially getting the start over Jonathan Quick, who went between the pipes Monday night. The likelihood of Enroth playing does increase Dubnyk's value as it's more likely the Wild steal a win.
Name | Opponent | Value |
---|---|---|
Cam Talbot (EDM) | at ARI | 6 |
Ondrej Pavelec (WPG) | vs. VAN | 6 |
Jimmy Howard (DET) | at TB | 5 |
Cam Ward (CAR) | vs. BUF | 5 |
These are borderline options, and that's probably being generous. Buyer beware. Spend up at goalie or take a risk on one of these four in a GPP.
Nothing to See Here
Name | Opponent | Value |
---|---|---|
Brian Elliott (STL) | at SJ | 4 |
Chad Johnson (BUF) | at CAR | 4 |
Ben Scrivens (MTL) | vs. ANA | 3 |
Scott Darling (CHI) | vs. DAL | 3 |
Craig Anderson (OTT) | vs. WAS | 3 |
Kari Lehtonen (DAL) | at CHI | 2 |
Fade all of them. Elliott and Lehtonen have terrible road matchups - Elliott has allowed six goals on 47 shots against the Sharks this season. The less said about the Canadiens' goaltender experience, the better. It's not worth it. Darling, in for injured Corey Crawford, will be tested by the Stars' high-octane attack, even without C Tyler Seguin.
