Belgium vs. Portugal friendly called off after Brussels attacks
Next week's friendly between Belgium and Portugal was called off Wednesday by formal request from the City of Brussels amid security concerns following Tuesday's deadly terror attacks.
The match was set to take place at the King Baudouin Stadium on Tuesday until officials from Brussels ordered the cancellation of the fixture.
The Belgian FA said in a statement: "For reasons of safety and precaution, the City of Brussels has demanded the Belgian FA to cancel the match Belgium - Portugal on 29 March."
The cancellation comes just over 24 hours after more than 30 people died and almost 200 were wounded Tuesday during a series of explosions in the Belgian capital.
A makeup date for the friendly was not announced.
Belgium is not scheduled to play another friendly until its meeting with Switzerland on May 28 in Bern.
